In addition, silicon can also be used as an alloying element in steel, and its mass fraction is generally not less than 0.3%, and exists in ferrite or austenite in the form of solid solution, which can reduce the austenite phase region. Increase annealing, normalizing and quenching temperatures to increase hardenability in hypoeutectoid steels. Silicon does not form carbides and can strongly promote the graphitization of carbon. In medium-carbon steels and high-carbon steels with high silicon content, if they do not contain strong carbide-forming elements, graphitization easily occurs at a certain temperature. In low-alloy steel, it can increase the strength, improve local corrosion resistance, and in quenched and tempered steel, it can improve hardenability and tempering. It is one of the main alloy components in the multi-element alloy structure. The mass fraction of silicon is 0.5N- 2.8% Si6 or SiMb steel is widely used in high-load spring materials, and at the same time, strong carbide-forming elements such as tungsten, vanadium, molybdenum, silver, and chromium are added. Carbon is the main alloying element of iron and steel materials, so iron and steel materials can also be called iron-carbon alloys.
